The Schaapkraal Communal Property Association (Reg No CPA/06/0932/A) was registered  on the (date)in terms of the Communal Property Act, Act no 28 of 1996.The Schaapkraal CPA is the legal custodian of land assets restored to people of Schaapkraal as a result of a land claim on Farm Schaapkraal 292 JQ which was lodged in 1996. The land claim was investigated and the Regional Land Claims Commissioner accepted the claim as valid.  It was published as gazette notice No. 826 of 2005 in the government Gazette No 27614 of the 3rd June 2005.

Farm Schaapkraal 292 is a mineral rich property that currently houses mining operations of well-known companies including Lonmin Marikana (Western Platinum Limited), Finstone SA (known as Marlin- Kudu Granite) as well Red Graniti SA.
